DOES AUSTRALIA NEED REVIVAL SENT FROM GOD?
If you think so:
o To what extent are you ready for it to happen?
o Are you ready to be part of it?
o Do you know what such a revival might be like?
o Do you know what they have been like in the past?
o What are the main pitfalls and mistakes to avoid?
o If you think spiritual revival is so important, have you heard, prayed
and studied about the subject to an extent which reflects its value?
o Do you obey the injunction of Psalm 78 - to study great works of God,
and to teach them to your children, and to the coming generations?
o Can you answer basic questions about revival, such as:
What is revival?
How can a person pray in faith for revival?
Is widespread revival always the will of God?
Is it possible to see widespread revival any time that
Christians are willing to pay the price?
To what extent is revival a sovereign work of God? In what ways
is it a human work, obeying psychological and social laws?
What are the conditions of seeing revival?
If God called you to be involved in revival, what would you do?
How can you prepare better to be used in time of revival?
THE FELLOWSHIP FOR REVIVAL ACADEMY
The Fellowship For Revival Academy offers excellent opportunities to probe
further into this subject. Study aids and library resources are available
about:
o Revivals mentioned in the Bible
o The modern history of revivals
o The motive and goal of revivals
o Prayer for revival
o Revivals and the transformation of society
o The pitfalls to avoid in revivals
o Revivals and theology
o Revivals and psychology
o Revivals and Christian world-view philosophy
o Literature about revivals
Study materials offered by the Academy are in the form of private study
guides which can also be used as correspondence courses.
The standard at which the courses are set ranges from high school to
university levels, but the study materials will be adapted to benefit any
person, regardless of their scholastic abilities.
Cost of materials is low, and the courses are open to anyone.
The Academy is run by Rev Robert Evans, a Uniting Church parish minister.
LIBRARY RESOURCES
Two small special libraries support the FFR Academy's study materials
about revivals.
One is a privately-owned library which contains one of the best
collections on the subject in the southern hemisphere. The BOOKLIST file
in this package lists all the books in this library.
The other library has only recently been commenced, and is the Academy's
own library, containing books which are available for more general loan.
As funds become available, this library is also being expanded into a
quality collection on the subject of revivals, as well as having books on
some other subjects.
THE ACADEMY OFFERS OTHER SUBJECTS ALSO
While the study of, and concern for, evangelical revivals and spiritual
awakenings is the paramount interest of the Fellowship For Revival
Academy, and the area in which the Academy has the best capacity to be
helpful, substantial courses of study are also available in the following
areas:
o Old Testament
o New Testament
o The History of Theology
o Biblical and Systematic Theology
o The Mature Christian Life
o Christian World-View Philosophy
o Christian Literature
A PRAYER OF HABAKKUK
"This is a prayer of the prophet Habakkuk:
O Lord, I have heard of what you have done, and I am filled with awe. Now
do again in our times the great deeds you used to do. Be merciful, even
when you are angry." (3:1).
PRAYERS OF THE PSALMIST
"Lord, it is time for you to act, because people are disobeying your law.
My tears pour down like a river, because people do not obey your law."
(119:126,136).
"Bring us back, O God our saviour, and stop being displeased with us!
Will you be angry with us for ever? Will your anger never cease? Make us
strong again, and we, your people, will praise you. Show us your constant
love, O Lord, and give us your saving help. Surely he is ready to save
those that honour him and his saving presence will remain in our land."
(85:4-7,9).
"If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear
from heaven, will forgive their sins, and will heal their land." (2 Chron
7:14).
